THE A&R AWARDS 2016
Winners at the UK-focused A&R Awards 2016 covered the worlds of artists, producers, songwriters, managers, publishers and labels.
Winners included Warner/Chappell‘s Amber Davis (Hip-hop/Grime), Virgin EMI’s Ashley Forbes (A&R Administrator), Dirty Hit‘s Jamie Oborne (Rock/Alternative) and Ministry Of Sound‘s David Dollimore & Dipesh Parmar (Electronic/Dance).
The Artist Loyalty Award was presented to Colin Lester by his long-term friend and artist client Craig David – who performed an acoustic medley with his friend and super-producer, Fraser T Smith.
Other winners on the night included September Management, Polydor Records, Muff Winwood (Icon, presented by Nick Raphael), and Mike Smith (Sir George Martin). Smith’s award was presented by Damon Albarn.
Albarn said that Smith has “always been there for me, every second of the last nearly 30 years”, adding: “I would trust him with my life. He’s a rare, rare, rare gem in this world.”
